These tours are customized and curated by Kiara. Kiara is a native Italian from the Le Marche, one of the most authentic Italian regions. She’s been living in NYC for over 12 years and as the Italian Foreign Ministry named 2024 the year of “Roots Tourism,” it’s only natural that Kiara felt compelled to return to her roots and bring YOU with her for a transformative journey to celebrate Italian migrants, their descendants, their culture, all of the beauty and experiences that only Italy can offer.
Below you will find the itinerary of our first trip that just happened this past May. We are planning our 2025 trips that will take you to Le Marche at the end of May 2025 and Sicily in July 2025.

The trip will start in Rome, where you will meet Kiara and the adventure of a lifetime will begin!

Trip to Le Marche’s BORGHI, Italy
WHAT IS A BORGO?
The Association “I Borghi più belli d’Italia” (The Most beautiful Borghi of Italy)
was founded in 2001 for the initiative of ANCI (the National Association of Italian Municipalities) with the aim of valorizing and promoting the great historic, artistic and cultural heritage of the Italian small centers.
It consists of 367 selected and certified Borghi (as of 2024), whose distinctive trait is BEAUTY and which represent the concept of Made in Italy as an expression of the Italian excellence.
The literal translation of Borgo in English would be “Village” or Hamlet. But the term Village does not fully explains what a “Borgo” is. A “Borgo” (plural: “Borghi”) is a fascinating small Italian town, a hamlet, generally fortified and dating back to the period from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. It usually rises around a Castle or a Noble palace and it is often surrounded by defensive walls and towers.
Whether Medieval or Renaissance, sea or mountain, rural or lake, all of our certified Borgos represent the best of Unknown Italy: a journey through art, history, artistic treasures, beautiful landscapes, traditions and savors, for a unique and memorable travel experience.
